Season 2, Episode 5: DUNK WARS: Nike Inc. v. Warren Lotas & Warren Lotas LLC

When Los Angeles brand, Warren Lotas, announced its collaboration with Jeff Staples, Nike collaborator, on a “reinterpretation” of the iconic Nike SB Dunk “Pigeon”, the sneaker community was drawn like moths to a flame. Catching the eyes of many, Nike was on the list of people who were interested in the shoe. But not for the same reason as us “sneaker heads”.

Nike doesn’t play when it comes to their work and was quick to file a complaint that Warren Lotas was never given permission or authorization for this reinterpretation; making it a fake. Pretty harsh. Although the case has now been settled outside of court, this week we’re picking this case a part. Piece by piece.
